On August 11th, 5 chapter volunteers participated in an Adopt A Stream cleanup of Bull Run, filling 13 bags with trash collected from the banks of the stream. They were greeted by fair weather with temperatures in low eighties a nice change from preceding weeks which had seen temperatures spiking into the triple digits.

So far this year, there has been no significant flooding to speak of at Bull Run which has meant that there is little new trash in the flood plain. We did pickup a fair amount of water borne litter which had collected in a low lying side channel now pretty much dry.
As was the case last year at the August Bull Run Adopt A Stream Cleanup, we carried out hundreds of Corona and Heineken beer bottles as well as other garbage from a sandbar, which is a popular hangout of some recreational users of the parkland.
Total weight collected, 360 pounds.
