Adopt A Highway

Most of the trash that ends up in Virginia's Waterways begins its journey by being discarded on Virginia's Highways. Stormwater runoff transports this debris into streams where some of it eventually makes it out to sea.

We believe that volunteer participation in the Adopt A Highway program can play a big role in minimizing this source of pollution which is why our Izaak Walton Chapter has been an Adopt A Highway participant for many years.

Adopted Sections

The Chapter has adopted and cleaned the following sections of road in Fairfax County for a number of years.

Mount Olive Road (Route 859)
Section begins at the intersection of Old Mill Road and ends at the intersection of Compton Road (Route 658)

Compton Road (Route 658)
Section begins at the intersection of Mount Olive Road (Route 859) and ends at the intersection of Centreville Road (Route 28).

From time to time we also will cleanup part of South bound Route 28 near Old Mill Road.
